Audrey Grimsey (nee Tweedale) contacted me last week with photos and memories of her time at Bingley 1954-56.
Audrey is above, front row middle, and is keen to get in touch with her friends:- Davina Rimmer from Leeds, Molly Nicholas from Heysham, Edith Watson from Darlington , Maureen Samuel from Seaham Harbour and Marion Biggs from Wath-upon-Deame.

Who's Going?

Lots of people have been asking who is going to the weekend? To be honest, I'm unsure, as I haven't the time to print lists of emails and ticket requests. A good idea is to put queries in the Guestbook on this site or join Facebook where you will find a growing group:- Bingley College

The Centenary Souvenir

The Centenary Souvenir is making great progress. It has 64 pages and will contain memories, photos and articles all about Bingley College it will sell for £5. All funds raised from this project will provide funds for a Bingley youth project. It is hoped that we can help local volunteers, the Police and the Council to open a Bingley Youth Cafe.

In 1958 Bingley College had a Mother and Daughter system where 2nd years mentored 1st years. Above left is Pamela Hebb, mother, and Hilary Clemence-Mann is daughter. Thanks to Hilary for the words and pictures.
Joan Seville nee Monks : 1938 - 40
Joan is on the left, on the steps at the front of Priestley as a Junior in 1938. Joan went on to do youth work and became the first Youth and Community Officer for Sheffield City 1949 - 52.
Dorothy Doris nee Gledhill : 1931-33
These three former Bingley students, pictured above, have been helping me by telling me of their time at Bingley. Their experiences will be in the Souvenir along with more of their photos.
Dorothy lives in York now and is 96. Amazingly she lives less than a mile away from Joan Seville. Neither of these women were aware that they lived so close to a former Bingley student.
Dorothy also has a sister, Edna Beaumont nee Gledhill who lives in Shipley and was at college 1938 - 40, at the same time that Joan Seville was there. Small world.

Doreen Hellewell nee Buckley1946-48
Doreen is on the left, on the front row of this rounders team in 1947

Hindenberg over Bingley College
Many thanks to David Mitchell of Guiseley for this amazing picture of the Hindenberg over Bingley College. His grandad, Alfred Mitchell was college engineer when he took this shot on 30 June 1936. Click the photo on the right for Alan Cattell's story.
