Many thanks to Stephen Farnill for sending most of these photos taken in the early seventies. They show students involved in many different outdoor activities. Stephen studied Biology 1973-76.

In many ways this page is testimony to the fantastic work of Wally Keay. He was the mastermind behind the Outdoor Studies department at Bingley College and was dedicated to helping people enjoy and survive the outdoors safely. He is a founder of the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and the Upper Wharfe Dale Fell Rescue Association and has written many books on mountain safety, canoeing and navigation. Thank you Wally.
